FAQ
1) Why don't you use Meta, X, or Microsoft-owned (or corporate-owned) social media?
Because those companies are undermining everything that we stand for. We believe that social media can be a fantastic tool, but the business models of the companies mentioned are incompatible with a minimum degree of democracy.
2) But what about Bluesky?
Bluesky has made some improvements regarding the previous examples that should be celebrated. But still, Bluesky potentially has the same problems as any other corporate social media platform. It is a private space that relies on private investment, and that investment is expected to offer a return one day. Bluesky is something that can ultimately be bought and sold. And if so, nothing can prevent Bluesky from taking the course other platforms have already long taken.
3) So you hate corporations?
No, we don't. There is no such a given reality named "corporation". A corporation can adopt many forms and do a huge variety of things. But if there is a business model undermining democracy and the rule of law, our duty is to point it out. Weird that we have to even justify ourselves on this, isn't it?
4) I am concerned about my privacy. Can I sign up with a fake name?
Of course, feel free. As long as you receive the newsletter you want, you can sign up like meow123 as far as we're concerned. You can even not put any name at all.
5) Is all the content free?
Yes, it's all free. No premium tiers or exclusive content. No Black Friday offers as well!
6) I would like to collaborate with you. How can I do it?
First of all, thanks! If you want to suggest a topic for us or to assess something we have published, you can email at thedebugger@tuta.com
For now we are not looking for collaborator, but if you have a piece of writing that you'd like to publish and that it accomplishes our standards, you are most encouraged to submit, also at thedebugger@tuta.com.
7) How can I support you?
And thanks again! The main thing you can do for this project is to subscribe to our site and to share it with your friends and family or just with anybody you think might be interested. That's already a lot! If you think the work done here matters and want to step up your support, you can give a monthly or yearly contribution (you can do it through this link: https://the-debugger.ghost.io/#/portal/signup), or you can also make a one-time payment with the amount you prefer!
